One night will reveal everything.
Maya, a polished, emotionally guarded woman in her 30s, hires Elli, a much younger high-end escort, for what she intends to be a night of sex without strings.
But as the evening unfolds, what begins as a transaction evolves into a subtle battle of control, desire, and vulnerability.
XChange is an atmospheric, intimate character drama exploring how moments of closeness can become a catalyst for honesty and how even the briefest encounters can leave a lasting mark. Minimalist in form but emotionally charged, the film is a performance-driven two-hander in the European arthouse tradition, rooted in nuance, tension, and the fragile chemistry between two strangers drawn together for a single night.
Inspired by our short film of the same name from the Life Improvised series, XChange marks our first time working from a full script since turning to improvisation in 2018 – a refreshing return to classical structure while still maintaining the immediacy and emotional openness we value in our process.
We filmed over seven intense days in Budapest with a small, incredibly dedicated team. Tight schedules, demanding scenes, and a focused, minimalist setup pushed everyone creatively, but the results – and the spirit of collaboration behind them – made the shoot one of our most rewarding to date.
XChange is our seventh narrative feature as writers and directors. The film is currently in post-production and set for completion in 2026.
